Nepal is a land of unparalleled scenic beauty and one of the most diverse geographical regions on earth. It contains an incredible variety of terrain in a relatively small area, ranging from the tropical lowlands of the “Terai” at about 300 ft above sea level to the summit of Mt. Everest at 29,035 ft (8850m)! What adds an even more interesting dimension to Nepal is the fact that its friendly people are from over 36 different tribal groups!
Mountaineering in Nepal is one of the most attraction and courageous parts rather than high adventure trekking. This beautiful tiny Himalayan kingdom of Nepal is one of the paradises that have met anyone who wish to conquer high mountains by their own foot. This small kingdom is the land of world's top highest peaks including Mt. Everest is majestic crowned to the north. Eight of the world's 14 peaks over 8000m including Mt. Everest (8850m), Kanchenjunga (8586m),Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m) Annapurna (8091m), are only located in Nepal. Mountaineering and trekking in Nepal has relied heavily on the progress and inspiration developed by various expeditions to Everest. Most of the attraction of Nepal in the early days resulted from the discovery that the highest peak in the world lay within the forbidden and isolated kingdom. Beside Royalty and other government liable charges, Great Adventure Treks & Expedition provides its best service with experienced climbing Sherpa in very negotiable price. Our Sherpas hero’s have already succeeded all peaks higher then 6000m and of course Mt. Everest (8848m).
Great Adventure offers guided mountaineering and trekking expeditions to Everest, Cho Oyo, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Annapurna and others peaks in Nepal. Our long association with the Himalaya has led to the formation of the most respected Sherpa team in Nepal. The team, all of whom speak good English, has been working together for over 7 to 10 years. The result is an incredible level of teamwork, communication, understanding and support - a unique factor that makes Himalayan Experience the envy of others.
The Himalayas are the huge mountain range stretching 3000km east to west. The Nepal portion of the Himalayas is the largest and highest, stretching about 800km and includes eight peaks that rise above 8000m including Mt. Everest (known to Nepalese as Sagarmatha).
The Nepal Himalaya has become a great theatre of mountaineering activities. There are many Himalayan peaks open for mountaineering expeditions. In the Nepal Himalaya, there are 240 peaks above 6000m and more than 1300 peaks of 6000m and below.
After Nepal opened its doors to foreign travelers in 1950, it became possible to challenge these mountains. In the beginning, it was simply a matter of conquering the 8000m peaks, but gradually climbers began to attempt various untried routes.
For the more adventurous traveler, there are 18 minor peaks open for Alpine climbing under Nepal Mountaineering Association. The climbing of these peaks is controlled under the rules & regulations formulated by this Association. Detailed information & application for climbing permits are available from the Association’s Office or contact The Great Adventure Treks & Expedition, a trekking Agency in Kathmandu who has membership of Nepal Mountaineering Association. It should be noted that in most cases the climbing of these minor peaks (Trekking Peaks) required snow and Ice climbing experience but don’t worry we are here to provide and train you these activities with experienced Sherpas( The Mountain Hero’s of Nepal).
For the permit you should apply for the permit through the trekking agency & you should have climbing guide otherwise permit is not issued. Trekking agency provides qualified & trained climbing guides to take non climbers for convenience, safety & expected successes. By Himalayan standards these are considered minor peaks, but in fact some of them provide relatively challenging snow and Ice climbing of high standard, & more so in Winter. The royalty for these peaks ranges from 350.00 US$ to 500.00 US$ depending on the particular peak. But peak climbing overall prices varies when you join with the group.

Nepal Peaks Classification
The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has categorized the mountains of Nepal into various classifications, one of these being called trekking peak. A trekking peak is a mountain under 7,000 metres (22,965 ft) that is considered climbable by anyone with a moderate amount of mountaineering experience and skills. While some can be climbed without crampons or an ice axe, most require use of this equipment. In order to attempt a trekking peak, a climbing permit (non-refundable) must be obtained in Kathmandu. Peaks above 7,000 m are categorized as expedition peaks and demand much higher permit fees.
